If you ask people to name a popular Maruti hatchback, many will probably say Swift or Baleno. But the latest sales numbers tell a different story. In July 2026, the WagonR sold more cars than both of them. It became the best selling hatchback in India for the month. There is nothing very flashy about the WagonR. It has been around for years and has a simple look. But maybe that is exactly why people like it. For many Indian families, a car does not need to look exciting. It just needs to be affordable, comfortable and easy to live with.
