For many Giants, practicing in England ‘felt like a movie’

Like coming upon the Field of Dreams in Iowa, the New York Giants were in awe as they arrived at their practice field in the English countryside on Friday.

There was nothing but green meadows and rolling hills for as far as the eye could see. And nestled at the bottom of one of those hills, a football field.

“Even for meetings, we did a walk through, it just felt like we were in a movie. Everything looks super nice. Everything looks clean. It’s just feels like we’re in a movie. It feels fun,” safety Xavier McKinney said.

“You walk down the hill, and there’s pastures, there’s a golf course, and all of a sudden, you see a football field. That was pretty cool. It’s a cool field they set up here at the hotel,” quarterback Daniel Jones added.

It was hard not to get wide-eyed, but the players were quickly corralled by the coaches and then it was back to business.

“It kind of felt like peaceful, in a way. It’s just opened up to a whole bunch of fields, a little pond over there. We took a couple laps. It just felt peaceful. Get a little stretch. Almost like we are about to do some yoga or something. It was good,” defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence said.

And the local fans added to the unique experience.

“This place has been awesome,” head coach Brian Daboll said. “The people have been great.”

The Giants will have one more walkthrough on Saturday morning before they head to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time on Sunday.
