Footage released of 'drunkest driver police had ever seen' after he mounted kerb and killed student

A drink driver who mounted the kerb and killed a student who was taking flowers to her mother has been described as the 'drunkest person' a police officer had ever seen behind the wheel.

Footage shows the moment police pulled over Malcolm Waite, 68, who had failed to stop after hitting the 20-year old. In the video, he can be seen slurring his words, accusing the officer of calling him a t**t, and refusing to take a breathalyser test.

Waite, of Meadow Drive, Hoveton was jailed for eight years for killing 20-year old Fenella Hawes, when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday. PC Callum Walchester told the court: “I’ve been a PC for 10 years and worked in roads policing for almost six years, and he was the drunkest person I have ever seen behind the wheel of a car," reports LancsLive.
