Firearms and a ute were stolen from a Lake Macquarie home in the hours before a parked car burst into flames.
Detectives have released CCTV as part of a public appeal for information amid an investigation into the serious property offences last month.
Unknown people forced their way into a home on Babers Road at Cooranbong between 10pm on June 23 and 2.30am on June 24.
Several items, including five registered firearms, power tools, and an orange Holden Colorado were stolen.
Emergency services were called to another home on the same street about 4am that morning after reports of a vehicle fire.
Police established that two individuals approached a parked SUV before it burst into flames and was destroyed.
Police set up crime scenes at both locations and Lake Macquarie detectives launched an investigation.
Lake Macquarie Police District crime manager, Detective Inspector Vincent Nicholls, said police were piecing together whether the incidents were related.
CCTV from the area depicts a small white sedan and a white Ford Ranger travelling on Barbers Road before and after the incidents.
Three people were also depicted on CCTV in the vicinity of the homes.
Detective Inspector Nicholls said there was no one home at the time of the break-and-enter.
As the investigation continues, police wish to speak with anyone who could identify the three people, or the two vehicles, seen in the area at the time and depicted in the footage.
Any witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage from Babers Road between 10pm on June 23 and 4am on June 24, have been urged to contact Lake Macquarie detectives on 4922 8899.
