A historian of Aboriginal Australia, who was pivotal getting the Mabo High Court case off the ground, has slammed a writer's festival for axing a pro-Palestine academic.

Professor Henry Reynolds confirmed to AAP on Sunday his withdrawal from Adelaide Writer's Week after the board dumped academic and novelist Randa Abdel-Fattah citing "cultural sensitivity".
