Food recall: Product sold nationwide recalled over pesticide fears

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued a recall notice for a product sold nationwide.

Specific batches of Afroase Biteku Leaves were recalled due to the presence of the pesticide chlorpyrifos-ethyl which is no longer approved for food use in the EU.

Although the consumption of the implicated batches of Afroase Biteku Leaves is unlikely to pose an immediate risk to health, continuous consumption of chlorpyrifos-ethyl over a long period of time may pose a potential risk to health.

Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimised. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches.

The batches affected are listed below:

2104120146, 2107190129, 2108170055 and 2110140053; best before date: 31/12/2024
