A Florida man, Gregory Brian McGall, 36, has accepted a plea deal that will see him behind bars for 25 years following a series of crimes in Tampa, Florida. The incident occurred on March 22 when McGall, driving a stolen pickup truck, crashed it on the interstate and then proceeded to carjack an American Medical Response (AMR) Chevy Tahoe.
Authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that McGall led officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) on a high-speed chase in the stolen emergency vehicle. During the pursuit, McGall was seen damaging a laptop and eventually crashed the vehicle into a grassy fenced field, fleeing the scene on foot.
A multi-day search ensued, and McGall was eventually spotted on March 26 in a silver Nissan Altima driven by Jerry Skidmore, 42, who had active warrants. Both men were apprehended at a gas station by law enforcement officers.
McGall faced charges including criminal mischief, aggravated assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and carjacking, while Skidmore was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, aggravated assault on law enforcement with a deadly weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the deputies for their successful arrest of the two fugitives, emphasizing the dedication and coordination of law enforcement units involved in the operation. He highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of the community through such diligent efforts.
