WASHINGTON — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis officially entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination on Wednesday — a diminished figure in his party after a steady fall in polls in recent months, but still the top rival to former President Donald Trump.
The governor announced his White House bid on Twitter after filing his intentions earlier in the day with the Federal Election Commission.
“I’m running for president to lead our Great American Comeback,” DeSantis wrote.
