Flash Flood Watch In Effect In Jamaica Due To Heavy Rainfall

Flooding due to heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul

A flash flood watch is currently in effect in Jamaica through Thursday morning as the country experiences continuing periods of heavy rainfall, according to the country's Meteorological Service. The service issued a warning stating that heavy rains could be accompanied by strong, gusty winds as the hurricane moves away from the west coast of the island.

The Meteorological Service has also discontinued its hurricane warning, as Jamaica is now outside the range of hurricane force winds from Hurricane Beryl. While storm surge no longer poses a threat to coastal areas of the island, the service emphasized that rainfall associated with Beryl will continue to affect sections of Jamaica, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
