Peter Murrell has been jailed for five years and three months, a jail sentence which marks a complete fall from grace for a man who had once been half of Scotland’s most powerful couple.
The 61-year-old’s time in public life has ended in disgrace following his admission to embezzling more than £400,000 from the party he led, with his lawyer saying he had been “ostracised” by former colleagues.
