Five things happening in Derry this July

As the summer holidays roll in, Derry is gearing up for a number of events taking place throughout the month of July.

Celebrating local businesses and the return of internationally acclaimed events will fill Derry's streets with life.

Here's a look at some of the events we can look forward to:

• Stendhal Festival

Bringing July in with a bang, Stendhal music festival runs until July 2. The popular music festival will host 3 days of music, comedy, art and a dedicated family programme at Ballymully Cottage Farm, Limavady. This year, music lovers will enjoy artists such as Bronagh Gallagher, Sister Sledge and Lisa McHugh among many, many more.

• Independents Day

Independent Derry is leading the way in effective promotion of local businesses. This year their successful Independents Day returns, with exclusive offers & promotions for Independent Derry Cardholders all day on Saturday July 2.

• Legenderry Food Festival

Derry City and Strabane District Council Mayor, Councillor Sandra Duffy launches the Legenderry Street Food Festival which taking place along the Quay from Friday the July 15-17 (Martin McKeown)

Derry's food scene will be showcased in July through this fantastic event from July 15 - 17. This three-day festival will welcome the Clipper Yacht Race to the city by bringing together the very best of local street food, complemented by local drink producers and live DJ sets for a totally unique experience.

• Foyle Martime Festival

Just as the Legenderry Food Festival comes to a close, the famous clipper race will touch down in Derry for a week over July 18 - 23. The week will see a jam-packed programme of interactive and outdoor events, including water sports to take advantage of the River Foyle.

• Foyle Cup

In the same week, over 450 young football teams and their families will arrive in the city from across the world for the Foyle Cup. Games will be played all week, including finals day in the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, as well as the always popular Foyle Cup parade through the streets of Derry.
