Phone users have been warned to check for apps which have now been banned from the Google Play store but which could still be on your phone. Google has blocked 12 apps over fears they were tricking users into watching endless adverts or trying to steal sensitive data.
Some of those affected were fitness apps used to track people’s steps, while others were games.
The issues were discovered by the cyber security team at Doctor Web, and some of the affected apps had been downloaded more than five million times, the Express reported.
