First picture of 'devoted' Scots gran killed during horror crash which left three kids in hospital

The devastated family of a Scots gran who died during a horror two car crash in Ayrshire have said she will be “sadly missed”.

Margaret Lang was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on the A76 between Crosshands and Crossroads on Friday, February 11.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports that an Audi Q3 had crashed with a grey Vauxhall Zafira at around 12.15pm.

The 72-year-old driver of the Vauxhall was taken by ambulance to Kilmarnock’s Crosshouse Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

His passengers, a 66-year-old woman and a five-year-old, were taken to hospital as precaution.

Two children, aged five and four, who were passengers in Margaret’s car, were also taken to Crosshouse Hospital to be checked over.

The tragic driver’s family have now released a statement through Police Scotland.

They said: “Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved wife, mother and devoted grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.”

Sergeant Ian Thornton of the Divisional Road Policing Unit added: “Our thoughts remain with Margaret’s family and friends at this time.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the crash and I would re-appeal to anyone who witnessed it take place or who has any personal footage to contact us.

“Any information should be passed to officers through 101 with reference number 1277 of 11 February.”
