A pensioner who died after being hit by a bus in Edinburgh has been named by police, as his family released a touching statement.
Allan Moir, 79, had been walking on Haymarket Terrace when he was hit by the vehicle on Saturday, February 4.
Emergency services raced to the scene at 5.35pm, but the pensioner was sadly pronounced dead the the scene.
Following the tragedy, his heartbroken family have paid tribute to a "beloved dad and grandad" as they thanked the emergency service workers who tried to save him.
Mr Moir's loved ones released a statement through Police Scotland reads: "We would like to thank the police, paramedics and members of the public who tried to save our beloved dad and grandad. As a family, we ask for privacy at this difficult time."
Meanwhile, a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing. Officers are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding this incident.
