First look at luxury city centre penthouses with views of Liver Buildings

The ECHO has been given an exclusive first look inside a number of luxury penthouses in the city centre that are set to be available for guests to stay in ahead of Eurovision in May.

iStay Liverpool has been transforming the space at 3 Fenwick Street, off Water Street, into ten lavish duplex and triplex penthouses that would be "ideal for families" visiting the city.

The front part of the building is currently occupied by steakhouse Gaucho, which opened in November 2022. iStay have been working hard behind the scenes to transform the upper floors of the building, which were previously used as office space for the historic bank.

Heading up to the apartments, the stairwell features the building's original tiles, which iStay were not allowed to touch during the conversion.

An iStay spokesperson said: "All our locations are in the city centre and they're all in older buildings.

"We love changing old properties into new ones and giving them a new lease of life."

The penthouses are arranged around a central courtyard, which is situated directly above Gaucho.

In the summer months, iStay hopes to attract independent food and drink retailers from across the city to set up pop ups in the space.

The smaller of the units sleep six people with two bedrooms, while the larger, triplex apartments sleep 11 to 12 people and boast four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

iStay said the apartments are "ideal for families" or long-stay corporate clients. It added: "Other accommodations are aimed at groups like stag or hens, but these have a more homely feel."

The décor is each unit is stylish, with neutral tones complementing rich colours and metallic touches.

In the show apartment, which is a duplex, the huge open plan living, kitchen and dining area boasts views of the Town Hall and Martins Bank Building, while the bedrooms offer views of the Liver Buildings and Water Street.

iStay said the build is set to finish shortly and snagging will then commence, but the apartments will be "open for Eurovision".

The spokesperson added: "We didn't put rates up. We don't put them up anyway, even when there's football on. We're really excited for Eurovision. We've got bookings from everywhere, including Spain, France and Lithuania."

The building at 3 Fenwick Street dates back to 1896 and has been Grade II-listed since the 1970s.
