Firefighters tackle huge blaze at industrial bakery in Park Royal

Local residents were asked to keep their windows and doors closed on Tuesday after a massive fire at an industrial bakery in Park Royal.

Twenty fire crews and around 125 firefighters were called to the factory, on Minerva Road, at 3.23am and found most of a single-storey industrial bakery alight, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Station Commander Paul Morgan, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters were faced with a fully-developed fire on arrival.

“One person left the building before the Brigade arrived.

“Crews worked incredibly hard to contain the fire to the single-storey building and prevent further damage.

“The blaze produced some smoke and we asked residents in the local area to keep their windows and doors closed.

“There was a cordon in place as a precaution and Minerva Road was closed.”

Crews used a 32-metre turntable ladder to douse the fire and a drone to provide aerial views.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Eleven gas cylinders were removed as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

Fire crews from Park Royal, Willesden, Wembley, North Kensington, Ealing, Chiswick and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The fire has now been tackled and its cause is now under investigation.
