Firefighters were called to a grass fire in Newark. A crew from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to Sconce and Devon Park at shortly after 5pm on Monday (August 15).
Fire crews worked with park ranger Simon Hill to contain and extinguish the flames. The fire service remained at the site afterwards to fully dampen down the site.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to the fire at 5:04pm. One fire engine from Newark was in attendance.

"They used extended hose reels and fire beaters to extinguish the fire. We have now left the scene."
The cause of the fire is being investigated. The damage to wildlife is not known at this stage.
The fire comes after people have been urged not to have BBQs, drop cigarettes or have fireworks at the site during current drought conditions.
A spokesperson for Sconce and Devon Park said: "A huge thank you to Newark Fire Service, Park Ranger Simon Hill and quick thinking local residents. Together they have stopped the incident from being far worse."
