Fire on Trident nuclear submarine at Scots navy base prompts safety concern for nearby locals

A fire on-board a nuclear submarine on a Scots naval base prompted concerns for nearby residents.

Locals in West Dunbartonshire have been reassured that regular testing and safety measures are in place at Faslane in West Dunbartonshire after a blaze broke out on vanguard-class nuclear submarine, HMS Victoria, in November 2022.

The vessel was forced to the surface to expel the toxic fumes. Glasgow Live reports that the 30-year-old £3-billion pound vessel, which has a crew of 130, was reportedly carrying carrying 2 Trident nuclear missiles when the electrical blaze broke out.
