A fire was deliberately started in woodlands near Merseyside.
A county councillor for West Lancashire shared the news that a fire had been lit deliberately in Ruff Wood on the East side of Ormskirk. Nikki Hennessy took to Facebook to share the news that she had to call Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service after she spotted the blaze that had been deliberately lit using kindling.
Next to the site of the fire, there was a bag of kindling where people had taken their own wood to the woodlands to start the fire before leaving it to grow. Now the councillor has called for signs to be put up in an attempt to deter similar "senseless" behaviour".

She wrote on Facebook: "I called the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service this evening as a Fire had been deliberately started in Ruff Woods and whoever started it just walked away. The reprobates even brought their own kindling! Yeah, they took their own wood to the woods!?
"We tried to put it out but it continued to smoke it obviously wasn't going out easily. It wasn't long till my favourite blue light service came to the rescue.
"I appreciate no one's life or property was at risk but Ruffwoods is a favourite local beauty spot for families and dog walkers. The thought that people actually plan wilful destruction of Ruffwoods really annoys me.
"I will ask if we can get signs up to deter this senseless activity. Please report if you see anything."
