JAIPUR: Facing uproar over the prolonged delay, the Lal Kothi police on Sunday registered an FIR after Maharani Girls College students' complained about a 'creeper' who performed lurid sexual acts in front of them in his car. One of the girls had filed a complaint on Friday where she narrated the ordeal faced by students.
Police had arrested the accused, Mohammad Yusuf on Saturday, for disturbing public peace but no FIR was registered immediately.
However, after being criticised, the Lal Kothi police on Sunday finally registered an FIR under IPC Sections 294 (obscene acts), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and other relevant sections. DCP (East) Prahlad Singh Krishniya said that the accused has already been arrested and sent to judicial custody. He added that police have also registered an FIR in the case.
While the girl had filed the complaint on Friday, the FIR in the case was registered only on Sunday. The police said that the accused will be also be arrested on the basis of FIR filed on Sunday.
The college girls had alleged that a car pulled up outside their college routinely, with a suspect doing vulgar acts. The student leaders also met the police and demanded quick action against the suspect.
One of the girls had video recorded the accused's actions on a mobile phone. "We had arrested the accused under the relevant sections as soon as the complaint was filed," said an official. Police said that the accused works as a driver for a family in C-scheme and is a resident of Karni Vihar area in the city.
