Finalists Meath and Kerry dominate TG4 Ladies Football All Star nominations

All-Ireland finalists Meath and Kerry make up more than half of the nominees for the 2022 TG4 Ladies Football All Stars.

Meath have claimed 13 of the 45 nominations as they retained the Brendan Martin Cup in style against Kerry, who still have an impressive 11 players represented.

Donegal, who fell to Meath in the Lidl National League final and All-Ireland semi-final, have six players nominated while Mayo, the other beaten semi-finalists, have four.

Ulster champions Armagh match that tally while there are two each from Dublin and Cork.

The list is completed by a nomination each for Connacht Senior champions Galway and Laois, who landed the All-Ireland Intermediate title this year.

Ten players from last year’s team are nominated again, eight of them from Meath - Monica McGuirk, Mary Kate Lynch, Aoibhín Cleary, Emma Troy, Máire O’Shaughnessy, Emma Duggan, Vikki Wall and Niamh O’Sullivan, along with Dublin’s Leah Caffrey and Geraldine McLaughlin from Donegal.

The 2022 TG4 All Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 19.

The 2022 TG4 Junior, Intermediate and Senior Players’ Player of the Year award winners will also be announced on the night, while the 2022 inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) Hall of Fame will be acknowledged.
