Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest reigning monarch, died on September 8, 2022, and since then her coffin had been kept at the ballroom in Balmoral, where hundreds of visitors had been dropping in to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes to their Queen. Today, on September 11, the first lapse of Queen Elizabeth II's final journey also began-- wherein her coffin is being taken from Balmoral to Edinburgh.
The Queen had fond childhood memories of the ballroom at Balmoral. It is noted that in 1852, the Queen's parents had started an annual ball for thanking their staff-- a family tradition which was continued to date. Thus, the Queen had been dancing at the ballroom of the Balmoral Castle since she was a young girl aged 12.
