A FIFE route is set to close for four months to allow work to be carried out on a rail bridge.
Network Rail have submitted a request for prior approval from Fife Council for the repairs on the structure which goes over Cardenden Road.
The work will see the bridge re-decked as part of essential work ahead of the electrification of the railway across Fife.
Network Rail Scotland says this needs to be done to address deterioration of the bridge due to its age, weathering and wear and to ensure it remains safe and reliable for continued railway use, including the electrification of the line.
According to a statement to planners, the work is planned to start on August 17 and be completed by December 18.
It added: “An application has been made to Fife Council for temporary closure of the road under the separate Roads regulatory regime.
“Diversion routes for traffic will be put in place.”
