FIFA 23 Marvel collaboration leaked as Fortnite-like promo rumoured

Just days after the official unveiling of EA Sports' FIFA 23, an upcoming FUT collaboration with Marvel has supposedly been 'leaked'.

EA released the official FIFA 23 reveal trailer on Wednesday, June 20, 2022, giving players their first look at their final FIFA video game which will be released on Friday, September 30, 2022. Along with the trailer and official release date, a bundle of new features were revealed for FIFA 23, including crossplay, women's football, HyperMotion2, new FUT features and more.

FUT will be receiving a host of new features in FIFA 23 including a new game mode, a revamped chemistry system and a bunch of new FUT Heroes including Yaya Toure, Ji-Sung Park and Ricardo Carvalho. But, according to leaks on social media on Thursday night, a collaboration between FIFA 23 and Marvel could be coming to FUT too.

FIFA 23 could be collaborating with Marvel in their upcoming release (EA SPORTS FIFA)

Marvel is an American media and entertainment company, known for being one of the biggest comic publishers in the world. Owned by The Walt Disney Company, Marvel has become one of the biggest film/television companies since 2010 with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), creating films such Avengers Assemble, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man and Thor.

Just one day after the unveiling of FIFA 23, Twitter user @Criminal__X, via @JoshZfut, claims to have found a teaser graphic on the EA Sports official website, apparently confirming a collaboration between FIFA 23 and Marvel. The original tweet from Sahil contained a link to the EA website, though the image is no longer there.

The graphic has an image of the new FUT Heroes card design, with the FIFA 23 and Marvel logo side-by-side above the large text, 'HEROES'. Despite the image no longer being on EA's website, you can still see the image on Google Images when searching 'FIFA 23 Marvel', showing that looks as if the image was uploaded by EA, only to be taken down later.

Whether this was a mistake from EA, we don't know, with the graphic being the only bit of information regarding the rumoured promo. Many fans have compared FIFA 23 to the popular video game Fortnite after seeing the rumoured collaboration, with the popular Battle-Royale game having previous partnerships with Marvel.

But, if the collaboration between FIFA 23 and Marvel is true, what could we expect? With the rumoured partnership teased along with FUT Heroes, it's extremely unclear.

Kits, stadium themes, badges and TIFO's are what could be expected, with most of EA's collaborations going no further than customisable items. But, if we were to get Marvel theme player items, this is who we could maybe see in FIFA 23.

  • Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) - Captain America
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Barcelona) - Black Panther
  • Julian Alvarez (Manchester City) - Spiderman
  • James Maddison (Leicester City)
  • Ben Chilwell (Chelsea)
  • Jack Grealish (Manchester City)
  • Dele Alli (Everton)

These are just very loose predictions, as it's still extremely unclear what the rumoured alliance could be. EA are yet to make any comment regarding the Marvel collaboration, though it will be very interesting if true to see what sort of content could be produced in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 is developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and will be available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One on September 30. Early access for FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition begins on September 27, 2022.
