The FDA added three more dietary supplements to its yellow oleander safety alert on September 17, bringing the total on the warning list to 33 products. Two were tested by the agency itself. The third was flagged by a state partner working under the FDA's Laboratory Flexible Funding Model, as Food Safety News reported.
One of the newly added items changes what shoppers can rely on. Easy Forte Natural Fiber is not marketed as tejocote root. It is sold as a fiber supplement, and it still tested positive for yellow oleander. That removes the one shortcut that used to work: reading the label and avoiding anything that said tejocote.
