FFXIV patch notes: 5 biggest changes in 6.28

After a nine-hour maintenance period, Final Fantasy XIV 6.28 is live. This patch doesn’t introduce any major new features like the big 6.2 update from earlier this year, but it makes a lot of tweaks to existing jobs and items, as well as fixing a whole host of bugs. On top of that, the game’s competitive  PvP mode, Crystalline Conflict is moving on to Season 4, with the rewards for Season 3 being handed out.

We’ll explain all of the biggest changes so you’re fully equipped when you jump back into the game.

PvE actions - FFXIV

As always, several of the game’s jobs saw their abilities tweaked in some way. For the most part, this means the potency of various actions and traits has been either buffed or debuffed in some way. In this case, it’s good news for everyone, as only buffs have been made to PvE traits, with no nerfs in sight. The Red Mage and Machinist especially benefited, with at least four of their actions/traits being buffed.

PvP actions - FFXIV

Aside from White Mage’s actions getting a reduction in range, it’s buffs all-around in PvP too. Although, this time there are some more technical changes than just an increase in potency. For example, the Machinist’s Blast Charge action now has increased movement speed while casting, giving them greater mobility.

Crystalline Conflict - FFXIV

The fourth season of Crystalline Conflict is starting up, with this one lasting until the 6.3 update is released on a currently unknown date. Anyone who finished in the top 100 for Season 3 on their data center can receive vouchers via the Moogle delivery service, and anyone who finished at the Bronze tier or higher has rewards to claim. You can claim them by speaking to the Feast Quartermaster at Wolves’ Den Pier (X:4.9, Y:5.7).

Dyeable items - FFXIV

A huge list of items can now be dyed, letting you customize their appearance quite easily. The majority of these are Valerian items of all shapes and sizes, but a few Xenobian items are thrown in the mix too.

New North American worlds - FFXIV

To keep things running smoothly for everyone as Final Fantasy 14 continues to grow, a large expansion of the data centers in North America has taken place in 2022. It was originally scheduled for August, but the necessary equipment wasn’t available until now. Now there is one new logical data center, Dynamis, and four new North American worlds in this data center known as Halicarnassus, Maduin, Marilith, and Seraph.
