Thrissur Pooram will be celebrated with usual festivities this time.
A high-level meeting convened by Devaswom Minister K. Radhakrishnan and Revenue Minister K. Rajan here on Monday decided to conduct the festival adhering to all COVID-19 protocols.
Various departments should complete the works in connection with the conduct of the Pooram and submit a report to the District Collector. A final decision on the conduct of the Pooram will be taken at a ministerial-level meeting by mid-April.
Fireworks
The meeting also directed those concerned to speed up procedures to take licence for fireworks. Barricades should be erected around the venue of the fireworks before May 6. Viewers will be allowed only up to a specific distance from the venue of fireworks as per the directions of PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation). Fitness certificates for participating elephants should be taken on the previous day of the Pooram. This year Pooram will be celebrated on May 10.
The Kerala Water Authority has been directed to repair the fire hydrant around the Thekkinkadu Maidan.
