Comedian Joe Rooney has announced his engagement to girlfriend, Nerea.
The actor, best known for playing Father Damo on Channel Four’s Father Ted, announced the happy news on social media on Monday afternoon.
He wrote: "We are engaged!"

"I’m so happy to have met Nerea.
"She is kind, smart and beautiful and without doubt my soulmate.
"I’m looking forward to sharing my life with her."
The newly-engaged couple showed off Nerea’s beautiful engagement ring on Instagram.
Nerea also wrote on her own instagram: "It's official… We are engaged!
"I couldn't wish for a kinder, funnier, better human to both share my life and heart with.
"Thank you for showing me what true love is! I love you forever my @joerooneycomedian."
Fans of the actor were quick to congratulate the happy pair, who recently enjoyed a romantic trip to Santorini, Greece.
They both just recently finished a year at college.
Joe decided during lockdown that he wanted to go to college as a mature student to study English literature.
The funnyman, who hails from Co Louth, will join comics such as Tommy Tiernan, Deirdre O'Kane, Emma Doran, Kevin McGahern and the Dirtbirds at the Paddy Power Dublin comedy festival at the Iveagh Gardens next month.
