Father and coach! Rahul Dravid takes out time to watch his son Samit in action

NEW DELHI: Team India head coach Rahul Dravid is on a break and is spending quality time with his family following the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The batting legend will resume his coaching responsibilities and will join the team in the upcoming South Africa tour. In his absence, VVS Laxman is the stand-in head coach for the home T20I series against Australia.

During the break, Dravid and his wife Vijeta were seen watching their son Samit play in the Cooch Behar Trophy match between Karnataka and Uttarakhand.

Samit, who is an all-rounder, bowled five overs, including two maiden overs, and conceded 11 runs. Karnataka bowled Uttarakhand out for 232.

In reply, Karnataka were 360/5 at stumps on Day 2 with Samit unbeaten on 19 runs off 47 balls, including one four and a six. Karnataka were leading by 128 runs.

In Karnataka's match vs Himachal Pradesh in the Cooch Behar Trophy, Samit scored 55 (84) and picked two wickets as Karnataka registered a five-wicket win.

He also scored 51 runs against Delhi.

The BCCI on Wednesday extended the contracts of Dravid and his support staff following the side's runners-up finish in the ODI World Cup. India lost to Australia in the title showdown in Ahmedabad on November 19 after an excellent run of 10 successive wins in the premier tournament.

Dravid had replaced Ravi Shastri after the T20 World Cup in 2021, getting appointed for a two-year term which ended with the ODI World Cup.
