Fans pile in as Chelsea Ted Lasso hint dropped in Season 3 trailer

Chelsea make an unexpected appearance in the new Ted Lasso trailer for series three of the popular TV show. Having started in 2020 on Apple TV, the story about an American football coach is soon going to be showing it's third season.

The trailer, revealed on Monday, includes snippets of Richmond AFC's journey to several Premier League grounds including the Etihad Stadium, the London Stadium and Stamford Bridge.

In the clip the Blues' home ground is used for a match involving Chelsea and Richmond, with the home side seen scoring. It is then followed by a view from the dugout that includes the manager reacting to the goal with disappointment.

The comedy show has gone down as a hit, following the journey of Lasso after being hired as a manager with the intention of him failing. Starring Jason Sudeikis, fans are now eagerly awaiting the return of the award winning show.

The first season of Ted Lasso won seven Emmy awards after being nominated for 20 and the second season was just as successful, winning four of the 20 nominations in 2022.

Sudeikis and other cast members were present at Chelsea's 3-0 Champions League victory over AC Milan in October too with Brendan Hunt also spotted at Stamford Bridge.

The rise of Richmond under his Lasso's management and the popularity of the show have also seen it used in FIFA 23 while Twitter accounts have been setup for AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso, furthering the popularity.

The trailer was greeted with funny reactions from Chelsea fans claiming that it would be the only time they see their side score as the Blues continued a run of just four goals in 11 matches and six goals since November with a 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday.

One supporter wrote, "The only way I will see Chelsea score a goal next month is to watch Ted Lasso," whilst another claimed that the strike was a 'goal of the month contender.'

Ted Lasso season three is set to start next month on March 15.
