Fans heading to Peter Kay’s return to the stage have been warned of traffic disruption on the ring road.
One lane of the inner ring road in Manchester city centre has been closed following a crash, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has announced. Tonight is the second show for Peter Kay, who is making his return to stand-up at the AO Arena.
The Bolton comic star has spent years away from audiences, so the announcement of a 110-date tour starting this weekend into 2025 has sent fans into raptures. The opening night of the mammoth tour brought Kay to tears last night.

However, fans flocking to the 18,000 seat venue are facing issues getting there. TfGM tweeted just after 6pm: “An RTC has resulted in a lane closure in both directions at the Irwell Bridge.
“If you are heading to the AO Arena please use the Inner Ring Road anti-clockwise and avoid Blackfriars Road, Blackfriars Street, and Chapel Street.”
To use the anticlockwise side of the ring road to get to the AO Arena, drivers from the north and east will have to use Great Ancoats Street or Oldham Road. Motorists coming from south Manchester will need to use Mancunian Way, then Great Ancoats Street.
