Fans fall in love with Ken as Ryan Gosling sings in emotional Barbie film clip

Fans have finally taken Ken’s side — after seeing Ryan Gosling warbling about the blond-haired doll constantly living in Barbie’s shadow.

The Hollywood actor showed off his singing talents as he emotionally belted out a song entitled I’m Just Ken about always coming last after Barbie — played by Margot Robbie — before adding: “No-one knows how hard I’ve tried, oh I have feelings that I can’t explain, driving me insane.

“All my life been so polite, ’cause I’m just Ken. Anywhere else I’d be a 10. Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blond fragility?”

Written underneath the caption: “Heard everyone was feelin’ the Ken-rgy #BarbieTheMovie — only in theaters July 21. Tickets on sale now!”

And fans were quick to take the side of the previous bit-part in the Barbie story.

Fans wanted to show ‘just Ken’ some sympathy, with many saying they are “more excited than ever” to catch a glimpse of the film — set to hit cinemas next week.

One wrote beneath the Twitter video, posted from the official Barbie movie account: “I cannot wait to have this song stuck in my head. Oh Ken, we love you,” while another added: “This film is already giving me life. Cannot wait.”

The lyrics continue: “I’m just Ken. Where I see love she sees a friend. What will it take for her to see the man behind the tan, and fight for me?

“I’m just Ken, I am enough. And I’m great at doing stuff. So hey, check me out, yeah, I’m just Ken. Baby, I’m just Ken.”

Another added: “This song actually pops, though,” while another predicted success at the box office, saying: “And the Oscar goes too....” [sic]

Ryan has spoken out before on the troubles his character Ken has to live with, feeling second best to blonde bombshell Barbie.

In an interview with GQ he said: “If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken.

“This is why his story must be told. Nobody plays with Ken, man.

“They never played with Ken. He’s an accessory and not even one of the cool ones.”

Many have been impressed with Gosling’s portrayal of the 90s favourite kids’ toy, with one even labelling him a “god”.

This weekend was the first full cast event, as the stars of the film gathered en masse for the film’s Los Angeles premiere.

Robbie gave pink a miss, wearing a stunning black gown, while Gosling stayed true to the theme, wearing a powder-pink suit for the event.

The film will premiere in cinemas on July 21.
