Fancy Edinburgh bakery selling 'award-winning' pasties to replace cashmere shop

A new bakery which is set to open on Edinburgh's Princes Street could be heading to another city centre location just months after work began on their first location in the capital.

MOR Bakehouse have revealed plans to move into the permanently closed Dunedin Cashmere store on Hunter Square, just off the Royal Mile, before their first location on Princes Street has opened its doors.

The bakery and deli, specialising in "award-winning" Cornish pasties, sandwiches and both hot and cold drinks have seized an opportunity to expand in Scotland and have scouted out another busy city centre location.

A change of use application has been provided to the City of Edinburgh Council's planning team that outlines their desire to take over the spacious store located between The Piper's Rest and Starbucks at Hunter Square.

In a supporting statement, MOR Bakehouse mention they are also looking into a potential future alcohol license and include plans for an indoor seating area that would provide 12 seats as well as an outdoor seating area with 24.

It says: "On behalf of our clients MOR Bakehouse, we have uploaded documentation to the planning portal in support of our application for Change of Use Planning Permission. The unit is currently Class one having been previously changed from Class three to Class one.

"Our clients would like to change the use class back to Class three Food & Drink. The business will operate as a baker, serving pasties, sausage rolls, pies, sandwiches/rolls, cold drinks, and teas & coffees. Our clients operate similar outlets in Class one units and would like to apply for Class three in this instance to prepare for potentially applying for an on premise sale alcohol license in the future.

"Food is takeaway with a small area of seating inside totalling 12 seats. An application for an Outdoor Area Occupation Permit will be lodged with the local licensing board for 24 seats outside, the seating area is shown on our proposed floor plan within the blue boundary line."

A projected image of the shop's exterior signage implements the same design as the newly-decorated Princes Street store with black and rose gold décor.
