Fan video footage shows moment Swansea City v Preston descended into chaos

This is the moment tempers flared during Wednesday night's Championship clash between Swansea City and Preston North End at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans secured a well earned 4-2 win over the play-off-chasing Lilywhites, their fifth victory in six league outings, but the encounter was unfortunately marred by an unsavoury mass brawl on the touchline involving both sets of players and members of staff.

Joe Allen, who scored his side's second goal on the night, was sent off for his role in the scrap, as was Preston boss Ryan Lowe, who declined to face the media afterwards.

Footage of the scuffle has since emerged on social media, and appears to show pushing and shoving from both sets of players.

Swansea's Harry Darling appears particularly incensed during the incident, as too does Kyle Naughton, who wasn't even in the matchday squad, but appears to angrily confront a Preston player before being hauled away.

Russell Martin and opposite number Lowe are also seen in the footage, with the Swans boss later claiming the actions of the visiting coach were to blame for the melee, which started shortly after Preston played on despite Jay Fulton going down with a suspected head injury.

"The game probably should have been stopped, Jay Fulton takes a head injury," he said. "It can be avoided. Ryan pushes Joe and all chaos ensues. The game should be stopped, but it isn't, Ryan pushes Joe and after that it's carnage. If that doesn't happen I don't think any of it happens.

"I've watched it back, I don't think it's pretty for anyone. Our job as a group of staff is to get players away from it. The situation could have been avoided, twice probably. It is what it is.

"A couple of things I really didn't like but it is what it is. When people are so passionate and care about what they're doing, sometimes it boils over. I don't judge anyone for that, but it is a disappointing thing to happen."
