Family pay tribute to dad with 'heart of gold' killed in crash

A family have paid tribute to a "caring and loving" dad-of-two who died after the vehicle he was driving collided with a lamppost. David Jones, aged 75, was driving his white Ford Kuga along Cemetery Road in Trecynon when the crash happened.

Police, paramedics, the fire service, and the Welsh Air Ambulance all attended the incident, however Mr Jones tragically died from his injuries. His family have now paid tribute to him following their sudden and tragic loss.

In a statment, released though South Wales Police, they said: “David Jones was a devoted family man and leaves behind his two sons, David and James and his two brothers, Colin and Robert. David was close with his brothers and spent many a holiday with them. He lived in the Trecynon area for over 50 years and was well known in the community and had a large circle of friends.

“He has been described as a caring and loving person who would do anything for anyone. He was quick witted and had a biting sense of humour. He would say it as it was and made everyone laugh who met him and had a heart of gold. He was loved by everyone that he met, he was loyal, supportive, friendly and generous.

“He will be forever in our hearts and sadly missed. There are no words to describe the loss our family is currently feeling and dealing with.”

The road was closed for four hours following the collision while recovery and investigations took place. South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit continues to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward - they are also asking people who were driving in the area to check their dashcams for footage which may assist. Anybody with information should contact them giving reference 2200249004.
