Family-owned French crêperie in Bristol starts franchise programme to expand nationwide

A traditional French crêperie born in Bristol city centre plans to franchise the business across the country. The family-run Chez Marcel has only been on Broad Street since November 2019 but already has its sights on expanding outside of the city.

Owner Gregory Raccommandato took over the former site of Maximillions to bring a touch of Brittany to Bristol, creating an authentic crêperie atmosphere inside and on its menu. It's difficult to miss the crêperie if you're walking along Broad Street - its cafe front painted a deep red colour is eye-catching, paired with a black and white striped awning.

Mr Raccommandato used to run a crêperie in France and thought the cuisine would work in Bristol when he first started visiting the city. "I noticed that you can get pretty much every kind of food here but never spotted a crêperie on any of my visits, which is what made me think it would be a good idea," he previously told BristolLive.
