Family of schoolboy Noah Donohoe face further heartbreak after death of 'kind-hearted' uncle

The family of 14-year-old schoolboy Noah Donohoe who was found dead in a Belfast storm drain in 2020, have faced further heartbreak after the death of Noah's uncle.

Ronan Donohoe, 42, formally from Strabane, Co Tyrone, sadly passed away in Co Wicklow earlier this week.

Noah's mum Fiona confirmed the news on social media as she remembered her brother as having a "beautiful soul".

Tributes have flooded in for Ronan, who had been living homeless in Wicklow for some time.

Homeless charity A Lending Hand offered up their sympathies to the family as they remembered the good times they spent with Ronan.

In a post on Facebook, they said: 'We are devastated to hear of the passing of our pal Ronan

"At the end of the night we got news he is no longer with us , we burst into tears

"We had such a special relationship with Ronan, we had dance offs to Cardi B ,he loved her , we would play it for him on the phone when he was down and try to lift him up , and would all always take the piss out of each other and try have a bit of banter , he was Donegal Ronan to us , a soft spoken kind hearted person who we will never forget, we are sure your key worker is devastated as you always spoke so highly of her

"Rip pal we hope you have the softest bed in heaven and are finally at peace ,we will miss seeing you around Town pal

"Sending our condolences to your heart-broken family and friends".

Fiona added: "So grateful for outreach groups that love as much as Lend a Hand did for Ronan."

Another charity group, Feed Our Homeless, also paid tribute to Ronan as they described him as a "funny" and "vibrant" man.

They said: "It has been brought to our attention of another passing within the homeless community. We knew Ronan very well. He was always a gentleman, funny, vibrant, and always had a story. He loved music. He will be missed by family, close friends and every person he encountered through his time here. He just had that personality that captured you.

"RIP Ronan. May you get the best bed".

While another wrote: "Rest in Peace Ronan, you were such a lovely person great craic too, will miss your laughs of a Monday….. Thoughts are with all your family friends and Ambrose your buddy too".

Ronan will be reposing at 9 Kilcommon View, Tinahely, from 2pm to 9pm on Sunday before removal at 1.30pm on Monday to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Shillelagh, for funeral mass at 2pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

A funeral notice reads: "Loving brother of the late Siobhan, sadly missed by his loving parents Gerry and Margot, Linda, brother Gearoid, sisters Shona, Niamh and Fiona, nieces, nephews and life long friend Ambrose, extended family, relatives and many friends."
