Family of Glasgow child killer's victim fight to find out why monster is back behind bars

The family of a child who was killed by a Glasgow man are trying to find out why the beast is back in jail.

Adam Stein was jailed in 1986 for the rape and murder of six-year-old Collette Gallacher in a Northamptonshire town.

The killer was released in 2016 but he received a four year jail sentence at the end of last year, and Collette’s sisters say his return to jail is 'cloak and dagger', reports the Daily Record.

The six-year-old was making her way to a bus stop to got to school in Corby when Stein, whose family are from the Renfrew area, lured her away.

The schoolgirl's strangled body was discovered in the attic of Stein's home six days later. The then 26-year-old received a life sentence and told he would have to serve a minimum of 20 years.

Authorities have refused to disclose why Stein, who was given a new identity, is back in prison. Collette's sisters Claire and Lauren are calling for more clarity.

Claire, 31, said: “This man hasn’t changed. Why is it cloak and dagger? It feels like they’re hiding something.” Stein's family in Scotland have said they have not been in tought with the child killer for a “long, long time”.

The Probation Service said: “Protecting the public is our number one priority.”
