The family of a Brit who was captured by the Russians while defending Mariupol with Ukrainian forces has pleaded for Boris Johnson to help free him.

Aiden Aslin, who is originally from Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, was spurred into heading to Ukraine and fighting to repel the Russians after they invaded the neighbouring country on February 24.

He has been part of a valiant attempt to defend Mariupol with the city reduced to rubble by Russian shelling as Vladimir Putin sees it as having strategic importance.
