Family guide to new movie releases

'PLANE'

Rated R for violence and language.

What it’s about: A scrappy commercial airline pilot is forced to make an emergency crash landing onto a hostile island in the Philippines ruled by a separatist militia.

The kid attractor factor: This taut action thriller should appeal to adults only.

Good lessons/bad lessons: It's always the cost-cutting corporate stooge's fault.

Violence: Extreme violence throughout, including shooting, strangling, stabbing, etc.

Language: Strong language and swearing throughout.

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: This is far too violent for kids — adults only!

'HOUSE PARTY'

Rated R for pervasive language, drug use, sexual material and some violence.

What it’s about: Two down-and-out L.A. party promoters throw an illicit house party at LeBron James' mansion.

The kid attractor factor: Teens might be into this mischievous comedy.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Don't throw a party at a stranger's house?

Violence: Some beatings and other violence, violent threats, etc.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex but nothing graphic.

Drugs: Copious amounts of onscreen marijuana use and references to cocaine.

Parents’ advisory: This is too naughty for kids but OK for teens.
