Families have been raving over a heated clothes airer that costs 6p an hour to run. With households struggling to pay their soaring energy bills, many are looking at what changes they can make at home.
Drying washing can be a constant problem if it's not sunny enough to hang outside, but not cold enough to put the heating on - if you can even afford to do so these days.
But shoppers have been praising a heated airer from Lakeland, which they say is 'worth every penny' and they 'wouldn't be without'.
The Dry:Soon range of airers from Lakeland come in various sizes, fitting up to three loads of washing on at once.
Those who have shelled out on them say it's much cheaper than using the tumble dryer, with one saying hers cost 6p an hour to run.
Commenting on the product in a Facebook post from the retailer, Shirley Brook said: "Mine is brilliant. Around 6p an hour to run. Definitely cheaper than using the rubbish tumble dryer i have on my washer/dryer."
Sue Hadley added: " I generally only have mine switched on for two hours, it finishes off overnight then. I can get twice as much on my Dry:Soon as in my tumble dryer , which costs 37.5p an hour and I would need to run it for almost two hours to get the same amount of washing dry.
"I also prefer the fact that the clothes aren’t being damaged on the airer - no shrinkage, lint loss or heat damage to elastic, Lycra and gym gear ( loads of that in this household!)"
Some shoppers recommended the cover you can buy for the airer to help lock the heat inside, but others said they simply put a large sheet over it and it does the same job.
Julie Marchant said: "You don’t need the cover, I’ve had mine for years, never had covers when the drier first came out, I manage to get a load dry overnight, and that’s hoodies and jodhpurs etc."
The Dry:Soon airers cost from £119.99 and can be ordered online.
