Falkirk businesses invited to free information event on climate friendly practice

Falkirk businesses are invited along to a free information day offering tips, resources and workshops designed to boost their climate friendly credentials.

'A Green Way to Save' has been organised by Forth Environment Link (FEL) with Falkirk Delivers and will take place on Monday March 20 at Falkirk Business Hub in Vicar Street.

Stephanie Stapleton-Barnes from Forth Environment Link said: “We’re looking to help Falkirk businesses boost their climate friendly impact, while saving money in the process.

“We’ll also be looking at how becoming more environmentally conscious can benefit employee wellbeing.”

Other topics up for discussion include the carbon journey of food, energy saving, reducing food waste, cycling to work, sharing your climate story with customers and climate jargon busting.

Stephanie added: “We'll also be hosting a climate literacy workshop between 11 am to 12 noon when we’ll take you through an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday business activities.”

Monday’s event feeds into FEL’s wider work to improve local climate and community wellbeing.

The charity has recently been working with communities in Denny, Bainsford and Langlees and Bo’ness on their Climate Action Plans and has also been running a campaign to encourage people to shop locally.

Stephanie said: “Thanks to Scotland Loves Local funding from Scotland’s Towns Partnership, we’ve been promoting the Falkirk District Towns Card - a new way to shop across a range of local shops.

“We’ve distributed gift cards to the local community to encourage people to shop locally and make fewer journeys, working in partnership with Falkirk’s food pantries and food banks."

They have also been helping local business boost their profile and their next step is to launch a social media campaign that will invite local people to 'meet the shops'.

"Look out for it coming soon on social media,” said Stephanie.
