The Atlanta Falcons have been forced to get by without running back Cordarrelle Patterson for the first two weeks of the season, but the veteran is on track to make his debut in Week 3.
Patterson was not listed on the team’s Wednesday injury report and it appears he’ll be good to go for Sunday’s game against the Lions. Assuming Patterson plays, what will his role be?
Buy Falcons TicketsAccording to Falcons special teams coordinator Marquice Williams, Patterson would step in as Atlanta’s starting kick returner, per ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.

In Week 2, cornerback Mike Hughes handled both the kick and punt return duties for the Falcons. Patterson, 32, is still one the NFL’s most dangerous returners.
Last season, Patterson set a new NFL record when he returned his ninth kickoff for a touchdown in a win over the Bears. Fans are hoping to see more plays like the one below during this Sunday’s game against the Lions.
