The Atlanta Falcons completed their first official head coach interview on Friday, holding a virtual meeting with Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, the team announced.
Macdonald worked his way up the coaching ranks as a member of the Ravens defensive staff. After coaching the defensive backs in 2017, he took over as Baltimore’s linebackers coach from 2018-2020 before departing for Michigan in 2021.
The 36-year-old spent one year as the Wolverines defensive coordinator before returning to take the Ravens in the same role from 2022-2023.
The Falcons have been linked to eight other coaches and will likely interview a few in-house candidates as well. Stay up to date with each interview request using our tracker.
Atlanta blocked both defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen and special teams coordinator Marquice Williams from taking interviews with other teams.
