The name changed. The practice did not.
The version of face yoga that arrived in Indian beauty culture through Western wellness channels, the YouTube tutorials, the celebrity endorsements, the branded courses, is largely a stripped-down export of something India already had. The stripping happened slowly, across decades of packaging ancient physical knowledge for a market that preferred novelty to lineage. What got left behind was the framework of the body the original practice was built on: marma points, prana flow, and the understanding that the face is not a surface to be sculpted but a map of internal health.
