Fabio Paratici could be provided transfer boost if Tottenham can secure Champions League spot

Fabio Paratici could get a boost for Tottenham's next transfer window if Antonio Conte can lead his side to a top four spot.

Spurs' January window saw departures of four first team players and the arrivals of both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodirgo Bentancur.

The former Juventus duo both got their first minutes in a Tottenham shirt when the Lilywhites beat Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

There is hope that both players can settle in to Conte's team and become a key part of it, in the final few months of the season.

Just as one transfer window closes, talk has already turned to the next window, which doesn't open until the summer.

With some clubs not open to moving players on during the season, the summer window is always the busier of the two.

Conte will hope to have a strong end to the season at Spurs and his side are currently just two points off the top four, with two games in hand.

Tottenham also still have a chance to end their almost 14 year trophy drought this season, with their next opponents in the FA Cup being Championship side Middlesbrough.

In the January transfer window, Conte wanted a right wing-back, striker and central midfielder but only the latter was fulfilled.

More assessments are likely to be made before targets are set for the next window, but if Spurs can finish inside the top four, they may already have a boost with one transfer.

Various recent reports have stated that the Lilywhites have entered the race to sign Sven Botman in the summer, after the 22-year-old remained at Lille during the January window.

Botman had interest from Newcastle and AC Milan but wasn't allowed to leave the Ligue 1 side.

The defender has reportedly said he wants to take a "good step" in his career in the summer and a potential move to the Premier League could be on the cards.

The defender is left-footed and could therefore play on the left of a back three under Conte, a position that is only currently occupied by Ben Davies.

It could be a position that Paratici looks to get further reinforcements in for during the summer, depending on the options available to him.

The 22-year-old has already scored three goals and registered one assist in Ligue 1 this season and has a current market value of £27million, according to Transfermarkt.

Lille's president, Olivier Letang, told Le Parisien about what the future holds for the Dutch international.

"Sven already had opportunities to leave last summer," Letang said (via The Spurs Web). "I told him that he wouldn’t leave and that we would discuss it again at the end of the season.

"He’s a great person and a top player who deserves to play in a club that can win the Champions League.

"If there’s something which allows everyone to be satisfied next summer, we will discuss it. It’s important to stick to your commitments."

Therefore, if Tottenham can claim one of the top four spots in the league, they may be one step ahead of Newcastle in the race to sign Botman.

In May last year, the defender admitted that he wasn't planning for the future but did speak highly of the Premier League.

"If I’m honest, the Premier League is one of the leagues I dreamed about…but also Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga," he told The Atheltic.

"The Premier League is something special. It’s the football I really like and that fits me. The style of play, the emotion; I really like to see the fans with such big emotions in the stands.

"It is a beautiful competition I really like to watch, and did for pretty much all my life," the 22-year-old added.

If Spurs can finish the season in a strong position and secure a Champions League spot, Botman could be a player that Paratici explores as an option, for Conte's back line.
