The FA has launched an investigation after Newcastle United's coaching staff clashed with Liverpool's during their defeat by the Reds on Wednesday night.
The Magpies had gone ahead through Alexander Isak's debut strike, but Liverpool fought back in the second half Roberto Firmino equalised before Fabio Carvalho secured the three points for the hosts with a brilliant finish deep into added time.
Liverpool had become increasingly angry with Newcastle's time-wasting tactics and celebrated their last-gasp winner to the full. The celebrations of that dramatic goal sparked a furious reaction on the sidelines from the visitors, who moved towards the Liverpool staff.
It appears that things may have got out of hand though, with the FA now investigating allegations that a member of Newcastle's coaching staff threw a bottle towards the Liverpool technical area.
A video taken from the side of the pitch showed a member of staff throwing an object towards the Liverpool bench. A melee ensued between players and staff from both teams, with the two sides having to be separated.
Amid the clashes, Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg appeared to stick two fingers up towards the Newcastle staff. Magpies first-team coach Simon Weatherstone also had to be held back while substitute Fabian Schar had to be dragged back to his seat.

Following the final whistle, Liverpool supporters loudly booed the Newcastle players and staff as the tense scenes continued. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe refused to comment on the incidents, though insisted that he had no problem with the boos his team received.
"I've got no idea. I was concentrating on what had just happened. I didn't see it, honestly. I just turned in this direction to celebrate. When I turned around, I was surprised about what happened on the other side so I can't really say anything about it," Howe said
"My ideal is that we're booed off every week when we go to away grounds because you don't want to be popular. We're here to win, we're here to compete and we will do whatever it takes to try and win.
"I was proud of my players from start to finish. There were absolutely no concerns on any part of our play that disappointed me. That’s the pain of football. That’s the horrible side of it when your team has given everything.
“It is a sickener for us but it is part of the game. We just didn’t deal with the corner. I thought we played well in the first half. Naturally, when you are 1-0 up here you are not going to be the dominant team and you are going to have to withstand pressure. It is difficult to defend against this team.”
Newcastle current sit mid-table in the Premier League, though they have only won one of their five games so far this term. They will host Crystal Palace in their next top-flight outing on Saturday, with their next away trip coming a week later to West Ham.
