The Ferrari driver edged out Mercedes rival George Russell to claim his second pole in a row after starting out in front in Italy last week.
Surprisingly, it proved a difficult day for Max Verstappen and Red Bull. The Dutchman, who risks losing his remarkable and record-breaking run of 10 consecutive victories, audibly swore over the team radio as his all-conquering Red Bull failed to perform.
At last, it feels like F1 fans will have a new victor. For now, at least…
