EA Sports has revealed the first trailer for F1 23, confirming the game's release date and a few interesting new gameplay features in the process.
The F1 23 reveal trailer is now live on the EA Sports F1 YouTube channel, which you can check out below, showing off some brand new gameplay footage and a host of new features, including the return of the popular Braking Point cinematic single-player story mode, which will once again feature the mischievous Devon Butler as your key rival. The trailer also confirms the F1 23 release date, which launches on June 16, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X |S, PC as well as PS4, and Xbox One. .
But if you're after early access, then you'll want to look into an F1 23 pre-order for the Champions Edition, which features reigning F1 World Champion Max Verstappen on the cover. The F1 23 Champions Edition grants three days early access so you'll be able to jump in from June 13, 2023.
Single-player campaign Braking Point will once again feature Aiden Jackson as your playable character, who is now somehow teammates with arch-nemesis Devon Butler at the Konnersport Racing Team. Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, promises that the mode "allows players to immerse themselves in a racing story, which provides a unique look at F1 alongside the authentic race features our players know and love"
Fine-tuning
F1 23 is also getting a handling and physics upgrade from last season. Mather explains that the studio's "close relationship with the teams has allowed us to refine our handling model", which will allow for more predictable car behaviour including better traction when accelerating, braking and cornering.
In addition, the new game will feature a greater balance between aerodynamic s and tyre grip, with improvements to engine torque and inertia giving players a greater level of connection with the car.
F1 23 will feature every track from the full Formula 1 2023 season calendar, including Las Vegas and Lusail, with three legacy circuits also featuring including Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai (China), and Portimão (Portugal) from launch. There's a brand new 35% race distance mode, which has been added due to community feedback, as well as the addition of red flags in a series first.
Whilst Verstappen headlines the F1 23 Champions Edition, seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton features alongside Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and McLaren's Lando Norris on the Standard Edition of the game.
