NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday for reaching the "extraordinary milestone" of taking 500 Test wickets.

Ashwin's remarkable feat, making him only the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to achieve this landmark, was achieved during the third Test against England in Rajkot.
